Aicha was 7 years old at the
time of our visit in August 2008.Her
father died a year ago, leaving his wife and 4 children.She has 2 brothers and 1 sister, ranging in
age from 2 to 15 years.The younger
child is being raised by her grandmother to help Mom out.
Aicha lives in a small
village called Nabengya.They are in a
small courtyard with an Aunt and Uncle.Their home is a small mud brick hut with thatched roof that leaks during
rainy season.They have no electricity,
no animals and their water comes from a nearby pump.
Mom farms alongside their
Aunt and Uncle along with help from the older children.They also sell some wood to generate a small
amount of income..None of the children
have been to school, so we’d like to be able to get Aicha started.
