Lea was 6 years old at the
time of our visit in August of 2008.Her
father had died a year ago in 2007, leaving his wife and 4 children. The oldest of the children is married and
living elsewhere.Lea has an older brother,
Jean Luke who is about 15 and another brother, Lese who is 13.Right now Lese is still in primary school.Jean Luke had to leave because fees are too
expensive in high school.Lea should be
able to start school next year.
Lea and her family live in a
village called Songnaba.They are in
their uncle’s courtyard, but he is not well. There is one other woman in the courtyard.Their home is a mud brick hut but it is in
decent condition.They have no
electricity.They have 2 goats and a
donkey.Their water comes from a nearby
well.
Lea’s mom farms with her children to provide a crop
for the family. There is no other
work.All are in good health.
Construction of the next 2 classrooms has begun! The deadline for completion is the 30th of September 2010 so we'll be ready for the start of school the first week of October.
