Compaore, Sita

Sita was 8 years old when we visited in March 2009. His father died in 2008 from a heart attack, leaving his wife and their 3 children.  The oldest of the children is now being cared for by an uncle.  Sita and his sister Zenabo (14 years) are still with their mother. 

Both Sita and Zenabo are in school right now.  This may become more difficult since Dad is no longer around to help support the family.  Sita is in his 2nd year of school.  Zenabo is in the 6th grade.   

The 3 of them live alone in a courtyard in the village of Roomtanga. Their mud brick hut is in very poor condition and may not survive the rainy season. They have no electricity. They get their water from a nearby pump. They don’t own any animals.
