Felix is 8 years old as of February 2008.His father died in 2007, leaving Felix with
his mother and 4 siblings.The children
range in age from 2 months to 13 years.They are all still with their mother.
Felix and his family live in a town called Laadre.They live in a small round hut in the
courtyard of his father’s family.There
are 5 women and several men in this courtyard, 5 individual huts, but each
family responsible for themselves.There
is no electricity.Felix and his family
do have a donkey which is helpful with the farming.Felix’s mother cultivates a field of millet
for the family with the help of her oldest child.She also prepares the local beer called
‘dolo’ to generate a small income.
Two of the children are in school, including Felix.He is in his 1st year but we don’t
yet know how he is doing.All were in
good health.
