Ouedraogo, Aicha

Aicha was 7 years old at the time of our visit in August 2008.  Her father died a year ago, leaving his wife and 4 children.  She has 2 brothers and 1 sister, ranging in age from 2 to 15 years.  The younger child is being raised by her grandmother to help Mom out.

Aicha lives in a small village called Nabengya.  They are in a small courtyard with an Aunt and Uncle.  Their home is a small mud brick hut with thatched roof that leaks during rainy season.  They have no electricity, no animals and their water comes from a nearby pump.

Mom farms alongside their Aunt and Uncle along with help from the older children.  They also sell some wood to generate a small amount of income..  None of the children have been to school, so we’d like to be able to get Aicha started. 

All were in good health at the time of our visit.
