I'm excited and blessed to have 2 new short term missionaries working with me in Yako. Olivia comes from my hometown, St. Louis, MO. In fact, once we made contact, we were reminded how very small this world is. It turns out her father works with my brother, her mother is in bible study with my sister and the list goes on an on with one crazy connection after another. Anyway, Olivia graduated this year from MU with her degree in Education so you can imagine what a tremendous help she will be to the work taking place here. She will be with us for 9 months.
The other girl is Sarah, a high school graduate from Canada. Sara speaks fluent French! I had met her once before when she was in Burkina for a 5 week stay. She fell in love with the children here and is now back for 6 months. Both girls are spending 2 weeks in the capital city for concentrated language study. Olivia is studying French and Sara has decided to take a go at Moret. They did come to Yako for a few days when they first arrived, so at least they have a taste of what their new temporary home will be like. Please pray for them as they deal with the realities of culture shock, the challenge of language learning, finding their place in the ministry, and being so far away from their friends and family.
